Recovery is abstinence plus change.  If we are to change in recovery there are three beliefs that we must take on.  The first belief is that change is a must.  If we are to change we have to take 100% responsibility for our own change.  The last belief is that we can change.  Change happens the moment you make a decision to.  I found there is a direct relationship in changing and feeling better so why not change a lot.  You can go from feeling better to good, to amazing.
